Many people opt for a party or a weekend away for their 40th birthdays, but one local man is doing something completely different!
Rory Sheen will turn 40 on March 21, but has decided to undertake a fundraising challenge that will also remember his parents, who have both passed away.
“I am going to walk from The Castle Inn, Edgehill, to Welshpool Golf Club, as this was the last move my mum and dad made before they both passed away in 2015,” said Rory, who we reported on earlier this year as one of three men who have taken on The Cock in Forden.
“I felt that I really wanted to challenge myself so I start on Monday, March 16, and then walk the 103 miles to reach the golf club on Thursday, March 19.”
Rory is raising money for Severn Hospice who he describes as “a fantastic charity that provides an incredible service that I truly wished no one requires but unfortunately some will”.
The route:
Monday 16th: Castle Inn Edgehill to Redditch (28 miles)
Tuesday 17th: Redditch to Bridgnorth (31 miles)
Wednesday 18th: Bridgnorth to Shrewsbury (21 miles)
Thursday 19th: Shrewsbury to Wdelshpool Golf Club (23 miles)
