Water pipes are fixed, and investigation underway

Our local water provider has apologised for the double pipe burst over the past week and has vowed to get to the root of the problem to prevent it happening again.

Residents in the Welshpool area woke up for the second time in a week yesterday to either no water or a disrupted supply, prompting Hafren Dyfrdwy to issue an apology and advice to residents.

Engineers could be seen on Red Bank sorting the issue all day Sunday (pictured) and the road is still partly closed off today.

But the water provider said that the emergency work is complete and an investigation is well underway to find out what happened.

Readers have speculated that there is an issue connecting the new pipe system that was installed at the bottom of Red Bank before Christmas to the ailing network carrying water over the hill.

And Louise Moir, Customer Experience Lead at Hafren Dyfrdwy, told us: “We’re sorry for the disruption caused by the burst pipes over the last week.

“We are pleased to say we have now carried out our repairs, but you may still see tankers in the areas so we can make sure everything is returned to normal for our customers.

“We are also closely monitoring the network and carrying out investigations to help understand what’s happened to help prevent any other issues. We want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding.”
