Dyfed-Powys Police has launched a murder investigation after a man was found dead in Welshpool town centre in the early hours of this morning.
The road from NFU Mutual to The Cross has been cordoned off with specialist forensic officers carrying out meticulous investigations at the scene.
And now Dyfed-Powys Police has issued the following statement.
“Dyfed-Powys Police received a report that a man had been injured on Church Street, Welshpool, at 1.16am today (Sunday, June 28).
“Officers attended with colleagues from the ambulance service, but despite the best efforts of paramedics at the scene, the man sadly died. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.
“One man, aged 22, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
“There are road closures in place along Church Street while officers carry out enquiries, and there will be an additional police presence in the area over the coming days as the investigation continues.”
