The man accused of murdering a 49-year-old in Welshpool on Sunday morning has been remanded in custody following his first court appearance this morning.
Martin Slezak, of Stanley Street, Welshpool, was charged following the tragic death of Walsall man, Young John Mongan, who was found with serious head injuries on Church Street at 1.16am. Sadly, he passed away at the scene despite the efforts to save him by emergency services.
Mr Slezak was charged with murder yesterday and made his first appearance at Wrexham Magistrates Court.
He was told that due to the seriousness of the charge, it would be referred to Mold Crown Court for an initial hearing later this week.
Meanwhile, floral tributes have been left at the site of the tragedy after family and friends made a touching visit to the site on Monday evening.
