Welshpool Town Council is inviting residents, businesses, community groups and volunteers to help shape Welshpool Carnival 2027 by attending a public meeting on Tuesday, July 14 at 6pm in Welshpool Town Hall.
The Town Council has labelled last week’s edition as a success and said they are encouraging anyone “with ideas, enthusiasm or an interest in supporting one of the town's biggest annual events” to come along and get involved.
“Whether you have suggestions for new attractions, would like to volunteer, represent a local organisation or simply want to share your thoughts, everyone is welcome,” a spokesperson said.
This year’s Welshpool Carnival brought the community together for a day of family entertainment at Maes y Dre Recreation Ground. The event was officially opened by Carnival King and Queen, Ariya and Keegan, accompanied by Carnival attendants Owen and Lowri, who welcomed visitors to the celebrations.
Throughout the afternoon, crowds enjoyed a packed programme of entertainment featuring the energetic Batala Bermo drummers, talented performers from Welshpool High School, dazzling routines by the Sally Gartell Academy of Dance, the impressive feats of a vintage strongman and a variety of other acts.
Visitors also enjoyed a wide selection of food vendors, craft stalls and community exhibitors, while the inflatable fun zone proved particularly popular, giving children unlimited access to a range of bouncy castles throughout the day.
Although the traditional Carnival parade did not take place this year, at last week’s Events and Planning meeting, councillors were told it hasn’t been ruled out for a return, but that participants would need to confirm their participation months beforehand.
