Welshpool Town Council has received the resignation of Cllr Sally Fitzgerald, who had only represented the Castle Ward for less than three years.
During her time on the Council, Ms Fitzgerald worked alongside fellow councillors, officers and partners on a range of local issues and events.
“The Town Council would like to thank Ms Fitzgerald for her contribution and service to Welshpool and the Castle Ward, and wishes her well for the future,” the council said in a statement.
As a result of the resignation, a casual vacancy has now arisen for the Castle Ward.
In accordance the appropriate regulations, an election will be held to fill the vacancy if, within 14 working days of the publication of the notice of vacancy, a request in writing for an election is made to the Deputy Returning Officer by ten registered electors for the Castle Ward.
Requests for an election must be sent by post to Deputy Returning Officer, Powys County Council, County Hall, Llandrindod Wells, Powys, LD1 5LG.
If no valid request is received within the required timescale, Welshpool Town Council will proceed to fill the vacancy by co-option.
