OnStar demos by Arthurs team

17/12/2015 @ 01:10

Vauxhall’s development of OnStar has had one of the biggest impacts of any new technology, according to award-winning dealer Arthurs of Newtown and Oswestry.

The sales teams at both branches have been busy giving demonstrations of the many benefits of OnStar which was recently introduced into the UK.

Said Chris Venables, Sales Manager at Arthurs of Newtown:  “The message is that OnStar will make driving safer as well as offering new innovations in infotainment and telematics.

“And best of all the system is free to customers for the first year of ownership.”

Customers enquiring about the new British built Astra are particularly showing interest in OnStar because the all-new model is the first to have the package which includes a high speed 4G LTE mobile network, emergency response notification and stolen vehicle recovery technology.

Said Chris:  “OnStar is the leading provider of connected safety and security solutions, value added mobility services and advanced information technology in the automotive industry today.

“With OnStar, Vauxhall is bringing the latest connectivity technology to a wider audience and smartphone users are able to connect to their vehicle remotely with the OnStar smartphone app.

“OnStar is able to assist vehicle owners and police if a vehicle with the system is stolen.  A remote ignition block allows OnStar to send a remote signal to the vehicle that blocks the engine from starting once it has been stolen.

“The new system also includes roadside assistance services which means being stranded with a flat tyre or an empty fuel tank is very much a thing of the past.”

Added Chris:  “Subscribers are in complete control of their data and the services they receive.  Before the services are activated they are able to choose whether they want to reveal their current location.”

Jon Hyde, Director of Global Expansion at General Motors, said OnStar was a staple of people’s motoring lives in North America, China and Mexico.  A total of seven million GM customers were currently benefiting from OnStar and he added: “We are confident this technology will become invaluable for buyers of Vauxhall products.”
