Tesco’s race against time

17/01/2011 @ 03:00

Tesco has admitted that it will be working around the clock to be open as promised before the end of February, but is warning shoppers not to hold their breath.
The awful winter has already knocked back the planned opening of the one-way system and today the supermarket giant has said it faces a race against time to be open before St David’s Day.
And, surprisingly considering the country’s worst recession in living memory, it has also confirmed that some of the 200 jobs are still up for grabs.
A spokesperson has told mywelshpool: “The severe weather conditions haven't helped but the team is working extremely hard so that the store remains on track to open its doors towards the end of February.
“As for the jobs, there has been considerable interest despite a handful of roles still being available at the moment.”
Last week, it was revealed by an insider on the multi-million pound project that the four retail units being built as part of the overall development have still not secured any tenants but Tesco has said there is interest with negotiations ongoing.
