Day Care unit unveiled as The Ann Holloway Centre

Welshpool’s Day Care Centre has been renamed the Ann Holloway Centre in memory of the late town and county councillor.

Miss Holloway’s family, friends, councillors, staff and the centre’s clients gathered yesterday (Wednesday) to mark the unveiling of new signage to mark the official renaming.

Town Mayor Councillor Steve Kaye said the renaming of the centre was a fitting tribute as it was a popular visiting pace for Miss Holloway, who supported the town council’s decision to adopt the service from Powys County Council.

The Centre provides day care for those who need support between 9am-4pm weekdays. The centre has recently seen its main room redecorated and a new conservatory added to enhance facilities.

“Care is provided by trained staff who are always prepared to ‘go the extra mile’ to ensure that all those who attend have a great experience,” said a Town Council spokesperson.

“There are about 24 clients most days with a reduced number on Fridays which is a special day for those with dementia. There is a range of activities on offer with lunch cooked in the kitchens on site to a very high standard.”

The Council also operates a Meals on Wheels service from the centre as well.
