Welshpool’s high anti social behaviour crimes revealed

Welshpool’s biggest crime problems during December were for anti social behaviour and violence figures have revealed.

The most crime-ridden streets in Britain have been revealed by a new police map that allows residents to view offences committed in their area and Welshpool’s problems are regarded as ‘average.’
 
The crime rate was revealed in street by street crime maps designed to give people the information they need to hold their local police to account.
 
Home Secretary Theresa May said the maps, accessible online at www.police.uk, would help people find out what was really going on in their area.
 
There were a total of 65 crimes recorded in Welshpool during the month with 37 for anti social behaviour, 12 for violent crime, 1 robbery and 12 other offences, including criminal damage, shoplifting and drug offences.
 
The crime hotspot was in Broad Street where 9 offences took place, closely followed by Oldford Estate where there were 7, Church Street 5 and Berriew Street 6.
 
Llanfair, Llanfyllin and Montgomery were regarded as below average. In Llanfair there were 12 offences, 10 if which were for anti social behaviour. Watergate Street area was the town’s crime hotspot. Llanfyllin had only 6 offences and Montgomery just one.
