New Year’s Eve drugs find

Police brought in the New Year with the arrest of a drug dealer.

Eight sachets containing white powder that officers described as class A drugs (pictured) were discovered on an individual looking to cash in among Welshpool’s revellers.

It is believed the male was stopped and searched at around 2am after acting suspiciously close to the Post Office on Severn Street.

An officer confirmed on Twitter: “Happy New Year to the person just arrested in Welshpool for possession with intent to supply class A drugs.”

A follow-up tweet in the early hours added that a “quantity of cash seized following house search”.
