NYE mess was 50% down

Welshpool Town Council’s services team were out and about early today to clear up after the New Year’s Eve antics.

The town seemed quieter than recent years, and despite a drugs arrest (which we reported earlier) and a few punch ups in the town centre, the mess was said to be up to 50% less than last year. It certainly appears to have been a lot calmer than Mad Friday when the team spent time cleaning up blood in the public toilets.

The only cause for concern appears to have been broken glass from bottles thrown on the Welshpool Town football pitch.

“The Town Clerk and Welshpool Town Council Town Services Team were out emptying bins and cleaning up after New Year’s Eve in Welshpool,” said a council statement this evening. “Not so bad this year, pretty good in fact with only three areas of broken glass and broken bottles at Maes Y Dre. Public toilets were good too.

“Thanks to those who used the bins, it was a great help. Happy New Year from the Council and Town Services Team.”
