With the Welshpool Airshow not taking place this year, plans for the newly revitalised Transport Festival are going full steam ahead.
Welshpool Town Council has approved a £9,000 budget towards the costs of staging the event over the weekend of June 23/24, with thousands of visitors expected to attend.
“It is unlikely that the Air Show will return, but never say never!” said a town council spokesperson.
The council has set out a budget for the event which will be held at multiple locations across the town. The money will be used towards marketing, logistics and signage as well as to renting facilities at the Livestock Market.
It is hoped that some of the cost will be recouped through brochure sales, although the event should provide a huge economic shot in the arm to local businesses.
