A positive ‘sign’ of the times

A local Amateur Dramatic Society is making a positive leap for inclusiveness by introducing sign language for its upcoming production next week.

Guilsfield ADS will be performing two one act plays on consecutive nights on March 23 and 24 in the Community Centre, and has announced that the Saturday performance will include sign language for the deaf and hard of hearing for one of the plays.

“A local lady called Cheryl Walker is a qualified signer and is able to sign one of the two plays,” a spokesperson told us. “Unfortunately the other is too mad cap and dense in unusual words for her to sign without a lot of work on script and in rehearsal that she hasn't had for this – but for next time we will have to prepare as we look forward to putting on the best show we can for as wide an audience as possible.”

The performances of Plaster and The Boundary are being billed as “An Evening of Comedy” and will start each night at 7.30pm.

Tickets are on sale through http://www.guilsfieldads.net/current-production.html.
