Welshpool is looking for a local person to become its Town Crier, and applications are now being accepted.
Town Clerk, Robert Robinson, said that this could be the first time Welshpool has ever had one, “or at least for many decades”, and is urging local people to step forward.
“You must live or work in the area, and be available to commit to several events each year,” said Mr. Robinson, who added that a competition may be held should there be multiple applications.
The successful candidate would be a front for the town to lead parades and make important announcements, whilst entering into competitions on behalf of Welshpool.
The deadline to be nominated is July 18 and application forms are available through wtcouncil@btinternet.com.
