“We appeal to your conscience”

Rarely a day goes by when Welshpool Hospital Car Park is not full to capacity (PICTURED), and health bosses are appealing to the conscience of town centre workers and shoppers to park elsewhere.

Complaints have been made by patients, visitors and staff that they have been unable to park in the free car park due to the volume of drivers taking advantage of it not being supervised.

The problem has increased since Tesco clamped down on motorists looking to park there for longer than their permitted three hours.

In a statement released to MyWelshpool, the Powys Teaching Health Board said:

“The car park at Welshpool Hospital is expressly for the use of patients, visitors and staff. The nature of hospital services mean that car park customers will include people who may be frail, have accessibility needs, or be anxious about loved ones who are very unwell.

“Concerns have been raised with us by patients and visitors that the car park at Welshpool Hospital has, on occasion, been misused. Understandably it is difficult for us to police the use of the car park, so we continue to appeal to everyone’s conscience to help us keep the car park for its intended use.”
