Caught in the act

Two arrests were made after police believe they thwarted a major scam in process at the home of a vulnerable person.

Following reports of a burglary in the Berriew area, officers from Newtown found a suspicious van at the home of an elderly person nearby.

“Two males were in the process of trying to scam the vulnerable person out of a large sum of money,” stated a police Twitter account. “Two arrested, van seized for no insurance. Good work.”
