Public meeting over £114m power plant

04/12/2018 @ 05:29

The County Councillor representing the area where a £114 million incinerator is being planned has called a public meeting.

Cllr Amanda Jenner represents the Trewern, Buttington, Middletown and Hope ward, and has arranged the public meeting to discuss the proposed Buttington Incinerator planning application and forthcoming consultation.

The project is expected to create dozens of jobs and plough millions of pounds into the Welshpool area's economy with local tradesmen being offered opportunities in the construction phase.

Cllr Amanda Jenner said: “Although it is early stages and the public consultation has not yet commenced, I want to make sure that my residents understand the process, planning application timescales and also how to find out about the proposed incinerator.

“I am their Councillor and have been elected to represent the community view. It is important that people know that I want to hear from them and also how to formally register any concerns or support for the proposal.

“I have informed the agent for Broad Energy about this meeting and they are welcome to attend. I look forward to chairing the meeting and seeing those who have an interest in this proposal there.”

The meeting will take place on Friday, December 14, at Buttington/Trewern Community Centre from 7.30pm-8.30pm.

Local residents, businesses and community groups/organisations are all invited to attend in order to hear more about the process and time frames. This meeting will be a chance to ask questions and to hear where you can find out more information about the proposal.
