Tim’s memory will live on through music

A charity to provide affordable musical opportunities and entertainment in Welshpool is being set up in memory of a young man who tragically died on New Year’s eve.

Local musician Tim Guttridge, 35, sadly took his own life after a long battle with complications caused by diabetes, but his dream of making a difference in his home town is being taken up by his family and friends.

A Service of Celebration will be held at Welshpool Town Hall on Saturday, February 2 from 1pm. Prior to this, there will be a private service at Shrewsbury Crematorium at 10am and anyone wishing to attend is welcome to do so, but the family ask that you let Barry Williams (barrywilliamswelshpool@gmail.com) know by Tuesday, January 29.

“Tim was very much loved by all that knew him, especially his family and close group of friends,” said Barry.

“We would like to take this opportunity to invite anyone who knew Tim to attend the celebration of his life at the Town Hall and spend time sharing memories with his family and friends. The bar will be open.

“Black attire is not required and band or Star Wars t-shirts, checked shirts, jeans, leather jackets and aviator sunglasses are very much encouraged.”

To honour Tim’s memory and the causes that he believed in, Tim’s family and friends are setting up a charitable cause, the Tim Guttridge Memorial (TGM) Community to continue his efforts and vision for affordable entertainment in Welshpool.

The family have requested donations in place of flowers, and anyone wishing to make a donation can do so through https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/tgmcommunity.

The TGM Community will be set up to provide musical and recording equipment for the community with a focus on music production. It will also focus on performance projects and affordable entertainment and extracurricular / lifelong education for Welshpool.

Alongside music, performance and entertainment the Community will seek to relieve personal crisis by providing practical support such as food and small financial grants where nothing else is available.

Tim is survived by his wife, Lauren, mum Jane, sister Johannah and Nan, Joan.
