Arson, vandalism at football club

Llanfair United Football Club may be riding the crest of a wave following promotion to the second tier of Welsh football, but today was a dark day for the club.

Vandals have run amok at some of the club’s new facilities by smashing chairs, daubing graffiti on the wall and even setting fires.

They are now appealing for information.

“We’ve had problems with broken glass from alcoholic drinks and people using the stand for hanging out regularly before,” said a spokesperson. “But this is the first time we have had damage done. It’s frustrating as an immense amount of effort goes into running the club and putting these facilities in place.”

While the men’s team won the Mid Wales League this season, the town’s ladies also enjoyed an exceptional season in the North Wales set-up, finishing with a League Cup triumph.
