Bank closes due to flooding

Barclays Bank is the latest property to be impacted by the flooding which has wreaked havoc in the town centre.

The Bank announced that it has been forced to close its Welshpool branch with a text message advising customers to visit Newtown or Oswestry branches instead.

The Tuck Box, opposite the flooded town hall, has also been hit but the business informed costumers this morning that it was still doing takeaways. Its owner has also been praised for providing supplies to the emergency services who have worked round the clock to pump water from a number of premises, including the town hall.

The forecast isn’t good and the town is bracing itself for part two of the storm which will hit us over the next 12 hours.

Severn Trent engineers have also been on site with the likely cause of the problem being a burst mains.
