Some important changes to traffic management have been announced for 9am this morning by the contractors working on the town’s one-way system.
Following a meeting between Welshpool Town Council, the contractor and Powys County Council the following will now take place at 9am it was announced by Town Clerk Robert Robinson:
a) The turning into Church Bank from Union Street (left) will now close for two days (Monday & Tuesday). Traffic will still be able to turn right into Church Street.
b) On Thursday the right hand turn into Church Street from Union Street will be closed permanently.
c) Brook Street will close on Monday for two days from the Raven Square roundabout to Bron y Buckley. Local traffic access to Woodside and Bron y Buckley unaffected.
d) Traffic will be diverted from Monday to Thursday from Raven Square roundabout via Raven Street, Mount Street and High Street and then down Jehu Road.
e) The right hand turn out of Jehu Road will be re-initiated on Monday before the above takes place. This can be done when the white lines are down and the Give Way signage in place.
f) The works to alter the junction by the NFU will start on Thursday with the back road open two way by Friday 5th July.
g) Yellow lines in Brook Street by Dolyfelin to be completed before back road goes back to two way traffic along its entire length.
