Quad bike thieves are back

25/06/2019 @ 12:17

Readers have alerted MyWelshpool to the fact that several quad bikes have been stolen from rural properties in the area in recent days.

We have been tipped off that at least three may have been taken, prompting Welshpool Police to issue a warning to owners.

Our area is seen as easy pickings for criminals looking to pinch big items which are often unmarked and left in easy-to-access out buildings.

A Welshpool police spokesperson said: “Please remember to be vigilant with your farm equipment. We have recently been experiencing high levels of quad thefts.”

Dyfed-Powys Police Rural Crime Team are providing advice to prevent and detect the theft of quad bikes.

Tips include installing CCTV, alarms and tracking devices, whilst also marking vehicles with a postcode so that they can be returned if recovered.

If you have any information as to the recent thefts, call the police on 101.
