Welshpool Town Council has launched a major offensive to get on top of the town’s overgrown areas.

Following input from residents, problem areas have been visited and prioritised with Town Clerk Robert Robinson saying: “I have visited all of the areas with the Town Services Manager in the last few days. The weeds and grassed areas have been assessed and put into an order from urgent to those areas which are fine at present.

“Work will start on these areas identified today and the most urgent ones done first.

“Over the coming month, apart from the usual grass cutting programme of sports fields, playgrounds and open spaces, the remaining areas will be visited to keep the undergrowth under control.”

Mr Robinson has released the following areas identified:

a) Woodside, Bron y Buckley and Brook Street (starting today and finish middle of next week).

b) Adelaide Drive, Burgess Croft and the top of Red Bank.

c) Brookfield Road culvert area.

d) Severn Street from the Station to the canal bridge.

e) Gungrog Hill around road narrowing.

f) Little Henfaes Drive.
