Assessment on closed road today

09/10/2019 @ 07:33

Engineers will be back on site today to assess the damage caused by thousands of tonnes of material that crushed a main road during the recent heavy rainfall.

The A490 from Welshpool to Llanfyllin has been closed for nearly two weeks due to the landslide near Valley View Holiday Park, Pentre Bierdd.

Approximately 2,750 tonnes of material has already been moved, but council officials say there may still be more work to do.

“Work is progressing well with approximately 2,750 tonnes of material removed from site at this time,” a Powys County Council spokesperson told us. “An assessment of the slip/slope will be carried out by our engineers on Friday. Hopefully at that time they will be able to determine when the road can be re-opened.”
