Drugs raid is biggest carried out by Dyfed Powys force
This morning’s drugs bust at Leighton Arches is said to be the biggest of its kind carried out by Dyfed Powys Police.
Three men were arrested at the gypsy site with around 75 police officers on site at 7am this morning to execute the warrant, with many teams expected to remain there into the early evening. A cordon is also expected to remain in place for several hours.
Powys Commander, Superintendent Ifan Charles, said: “The action we’re taking today is part of our ongoing commitment to tackle illegal drug dealing in Welshpool and beyond, and is the result of months of hard work.
“We take the concerns of our communities seriously, and I hope the residents of Welshpool are reassured by this activity.
“Teams of specialists remain at the site of the warrant, working meticulously to ensure any evidence of wrongdoing is secured.
“I urge anyone with information or any concerns about illegal drug dealing to raise them with police so we can take action.”
Two men, aged 31 and 23, and a 17-year-old boy, have been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of heroin and cocaine. They remain in police custody at this time.
