Fourth arrest after force’s “biggest ever” drugs raid

Following the biggest ever drugs raid carried out by Dyfed-Powys Police this morning, a fourth arrest has been made tonight.

Up to 75 officers were involved in the dawn raid on Leighton Arches on the outskirts of Welshpool with three men, aged 31, 23, and 17, arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of heroin and cocaine. They remain in police custody.

Police have remained at the traveller site all day, with a caravan spotted being loaded onto a low loader at around 1pm.

The fourth man was arrested tonight on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of other class A drugs. He also remains in custody.

Powys Commander, Superintendent Ifan Charles, said following the raid this morning: “The action we’re taking today is part of our ongoing commitment to tackle illegal drug dealing in Welshpool and beyond, and is the result of months of hard work.

“We take the concerns of our communities seriously, and I hope the residents of Welshpool are reassured by this activity.

“I urge anyone with information or any concerns about illegal drug dealing to raise them with police so we can take action.”
