“We really like you”

After stunning millions with his sensational X Factor: The Band audition last night on ITV, local teenager Reece Wiltshire-Fessey has made himself a red hot favourite to go all the way.

The 19-year-old from Llansantffraid, who previously lived in Guilsfield, gave a mesmerising rendition of Taylor Swift’s Lover which left judges Simon Cowell and Nicole Scherzinger gob smacked.

After introducing himself and sharing a joke with Cowell about his dancing “which is a two!”, Reece won over his audience within seconds.

Impressed Scherzinger could be seen tapping Cowell on the thigh under the table before the music mogul stopped the performance with a thumbs up.

The performance left mum, Gayle, in tears on the sidelines before Scherzinger said: “Usually I can tell in the first couple of seconds if someone has it. I see something in your eyes. You have something about you.”

Cowell then added: “You really care about this don't you? You’re smart, really likable, great song choice.”

He then got a resounding stamp on his audition certificate to advance through to the next level of auditions.

X Factor: The Band will continue on Wednesday and Friday, before a final live show to select the next One Direction and Little Mix boy and girl bands next Sunday night.

Still early days yet but on last night’s showing, few will be doubting Reece’s ability to become the next big pop sensation.
