More rain on the way

14/01/2020 @ 08:27

The Welshpool area is set for another battering today just 24 hours after Storm Brendan brought heavy rain, hail and winds up to 76mph.

The Met Office’s yellow warning is still in place through to midnight, with rain expected through lunch time and into this evening.

Yesterday’s fierce weather brought down trees and left standing water on the usual local roads, with Guilsfield among the places that suffered brief power cuts during the afternoon.

The winds are not expected to be so strong today. On Monday, a gust of 87.5mph was recorded on South Uist in the Outer Hebrides, while a 76mph gust hit Capel Curig in Wales.

The forecast is slightly better for tomorrow, but there is rain forecast for Thursday and Friday.
