Guilsfield Show’s charity touch

14/01/2020 @ 11:15

Charities and good causes have cashed in from the proceeds of Guilsfield Show, which held a bumper edition in 2019.

Show Presidents Maurice and Aisla Jones presented Charity Awards to Hope House Hospice and Macmillan Nurses to the value of £250 each. The Committee also made a significant donation to Guilsfield Church from the proceeds of the Companion Dog Show.

Lynsey Kilvert, Fundraising Team Leader for Powys, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin accepted one of the awards on behalf of Hope House and thanked all involved for their generosity.

Show Chair, Matthew Kneale, said: “The fantastic weather and excellent local support on the show day coupled with the additional events such as the trail run, tractor rally, gin fest evening and our annual charity lunch have enabled us to support such worthwhile local causes.”

Guilsfield Show is self-funding and relies on the enormous support of the local community and from visitors further afield to continue each year. The substantial costs of holding the show are covered by the entrance fees, any profit from social functions and sponsors.

All committee members are volunteers who are also supported by many members of the local community.

The next show will be held on August 13 with evening music to conclude the show and the annual fun run held the night before.

The Show Charity Lunch will be held on August 9, with a Summer Solstice Party planned for June 20 and the final event, a tractor rally, taking place on September 20.
