One in hospital after five escape horror crash

Five Welshpool area youngsters were lucky to escape with their lives when a car crashed through fencing and into a stream.

The incident happened between Dinas Mawddwy and Dolgellau on Saturday afternoon with a 15-year-old taken to Bronglais Hospital at Aberystwyth with multiple pelvic fractures and a broken arm. The driver and three other passengers escaped with cuts and bruises.

All five in the Vauxhall Vectra are believed to be from the Welshpool, Guilsfield and Trewern areas.

Police and paramedics were alerted to the incident between Dinas Mawddwy and Dolgellau shortly after 1.30pm on Saturday with the car being driven down the pass towards the Cross Foxes public house when it crashed.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokeswoman said paramedics gave treatment at the scene and one casualty was taken by road to Ysbyty Bronglais, Aberystwyth, for further treatment.
