And still they keep coming

Don't travel unless it is essential. That is the message from Welshpool Police as they continue to stop motorists who are ignoring Government advice.

Patrols have been stepped up in Welshpool and Newtown, as well as local tourist and beauty spots, where fines are being slapped on people ignoring the "stay at home" plea. Police were stopping vehices at Buttington Roundabout and turning many back with stories of travelling to the coast for exercise among excuses.

They are also travelling on B roads and in local towns.

They have warned that they will fine people £60 on the spot if found not to be driving on essential business.

"Good response from most of the public. Lots of non essential journeys though. Travelling to wales to shop, also carry out their daily exercise at the coast. Both of those are non essential travelling. Stay at home, Shop and exercise locally. #StayHome" said Road Traffic Police in a Tweet.
