Local Virtual Music Festival announced

Many of the Welshpool area’s leading musicians have been confirmed for a virtual music festival that will raise money to support the local frontline heroes in their battle against Covid-19.

A quality line-up of 10 musicians will take it in turns to perform live on a specially-created Facebook page on May 2, with viewers able to donate towards buying vital Personal Protection Equipment for local charities and organisations.

The idea for ‘Safe and Sound’ was created by local woman Sallyann Rogers who said she has been inspired by the bravery and the dedication of all key workers over the past month since Government restrictions came into force.

“I am so proud to be able to call the Welshpool area my home and wanted to give something back to all of those brave people who are battling this horrible virus,” she said.

“The response I have received from the artists has been tremendous so I hope that their efforts will be supported by people donating on the night while enjoying some excellent live music.”

Singer-songwriter Dave Roberts (Dai Robs) has helped Sallyann to assemble a top notch line-up of talent who can play just about every genre of music, with the ‘concert’ starting at 5pm before the curtain comes down with a performance from Steve Edwards at 9.30pm.
