Welshpool Festival of Music is ON today!

24/05/2020 @ 09:49

It’s usually one of the best days out of the year, but the Covid-19 crisis has put paid to any chance of the popular Welshpool Festival of Music physically going ahead today.

But following the success of the Safe & Sound fundraiser that raised nearly £2,500 for local causes earlier this month, organisers of the festival have announced that we can all log-in to five hours of quality live music once again this afternoon.

“Obviously, this weekend we should have been filling the town with live music, but that’s not the case, sadly,” said a Festival spokesperson. “So instead, we’re going to bring the music straight to you through this page (official Welshpool Festival of Music Facebook page). From 4pm-9pm, we’ll be presenting a variety of acts from far and wide.”

Barry Williams, who played in the Safe & Sound gig, will open at 4pm with another well-known local performer, John Hughes (aka The Singing Farmer), bringing it to a close from 8.30pm.

In between there will be eight class acts providing free live entertainment from their own homes.

“Considering the idea of doing this was only brought up on Tuesday, it’s come together very well and we’ve put together what we feel is a really good line up. We hope you'll come along to the page and enjoy it!”
