A heartfelt plea has been made by a local mother after her son was left “fighting for his life” following a quad bike accident near Berriew last night.

Earlier we reported the police’s appeal for information about the accident on the B4390 between Manafon and Berriew at around 6.55pm.

They reported that three people were on the Honda quad, but Janet Andrew, whose 16-year-old son Daryl was seriously injured, said there were actually four.

She has asked us to publish her appeal for information in the hope that someone can shed light as to what happened.

“I am asking anyone that knows what happened or seen anything last night to come forward,” she said. “One of them is very, very poorly... he is my son. The full extent to Daryl's injuries are not known yet.

“I don’t want to know ‘he said she said’. He is a 16-year old-boy. My son is fighting for his life.

“I am begging for witnesses to come forward and to tell the truth. Remember you may have to live with the consequences of not saying anything.

“I am praying that my boy pulls through and he will speak the truth. I don’t want the witnesses coming forward to me, please go to the police.”

The spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police told us earlier: “We don’t believe any other vehicles were involved but are appealing for any extra information that can help us establish the full circumstances around what happened.

“Anyone with details or dash camera footage of the vehicle or incident are encouraged to contact PC 1169 White at Dyfed-Powys Police Serious Collision investigation unit on 101, quoting incident reference DP-20200806-326.”
