Distraught mother Janet Andrew is “begging” witnesses to come forward to help piece together the final moments before her son, Daryl, suffered life-changing injuries in an accident on Thursday night.
The 16-year-old was one of four people on a Honda quad bike when the incident happened between 6.45pm and 7.10pm on the B4390 between Manafon and Berriew. He was a passenger and not driving the vehicle, and no other vehicle was believed to be involved. No-one else was injured.
Janet has this morning issued this picture of Daryl and asked us to renew her plea for information.
“Daryl sustained life-changing and very serious injuries after the incident,” she said. “I am asking anyone that seen Daryl in between those times to contact the police. Daryl was wearing the exact hoodie and boots in this picture when this accident happened.
“He is still very poorly and I am begging anyone that saw Daryl or even recognises his clothing to contact the police. Even if you briefly saw him, please contact the police.
“Any information is much needed to help Daryl, who had his life how he knew it taken away from him on that night.
“This will help with piecing the jigsaw together but will also hopefully, in time, help Daryl in his recovery and that for now is a long way off.”
A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “We don’t believe any other vehicles were involved but are appealing for any extra information that can help us establish the full circumstances around what happened.
“Anyone with details or dash camera footage of the vehicle or incident are encouraged to contact PC 1169 White at Dyfed-Powys Police Serious Collision investigation unit on 101, quoting incident reference DP-20200806-326.”
