‘Drunks’ vandalise cafe’s new street zone

A town centre business, praised for helping to lift the spirits of the town centre with a wonderful new outdoor area, has been the target of what its owner called “drunken idiots”.

Jo Harris, the owner of Coco Coffee House, has been hit hard by the pandemic-forced closures and restrictions this year, but, along with he Pheasant, has turned its outside parking bays into Parisian style seating areas.

But last night, Jo received a text at about 8.50pm to tell her that “three drunken idiots have pulled all the trees, flowers and Christmas lights out of the planters in our outside bay”.

“The police have been called,” said Jo, who added that CCTV will have also captured the incident.

“If you are the mother, girlfriend or live with one of these vandals, you'll know who they are as they have dirt on their hands. Report them, then send them to us with new trees, plants and Christmas lights,” she said.

“To the lovely person who messaged to say they had seen the mess and put as many plants as possible back, we are truly thankful.”
