Welshpool police have reported stopping “large volumes” of Covid-breaking motorists heading to two local beauty spots today.

Despite all the publicity of the new Covid-19 strain sweeping across Montgomeryshire this past fortnight, the local force said it has been a busy day.

“Large volumes of vehicles heading towards Lake Vyrnwy and Llanrhaeadr Waterfall have been turned around, fines have been given out for breaching covid-19 regulations,” the station reported on Twitter.

In addition, they said that five traffic reports had been submitted for vehicles with no insurance and no license.

Today, First Minister Mark Drakeford said lockdown would continue in Wales for another three weeks.
