Wendy takes the club’s reins

Wendy Beaven is the new President of Inner Wheel, taking the reins from Margaret Pepper who was praised for keeping members informed throughout the pandemic.

An incredible £4,400 was raised for Hope House during Margaret’s tenure, and Rotarian, Pat Lewis of Church Stretton Rotary Club, was thanked for his support of the President’s charity.

Members were pleased to welcome Rotarian Lewis and his wife Dilys (a past member of the club) to the meeting in order to thank him personally for his valuable support.

Wendy’s chosen charity will be Carers UK, as Rotary has agreed to a partnership link with the charity. All other officers remain in post.

New member, Joan Vine, was welcomed, and it was reported that several articles had been published in the District magazine, including the report of Welshpool Club’s donation of nightwear to Shropshire NHS Trust.

The club’s gifts of baby clothes had also been well supported, destined for premature baby units in Uganda.

The speaker at the next club meeting on July 20 will be Dr Helen Hayes who will talk about ‘Mad, Bad or Sad… children’s mental health’.
