Welshpool Town Council said it was delighted with the response to its recent Book Sale that raised an impressive £861 for local charities.

The council said that dozens of local residents donated books, DVDs and CDs which were sold at the Corn Exchange in the Town Hall over Back Holiday weekend.

“We would also like to thank those who donated prizes towards our raffle, including East Avenue, Tesco, Ricky Lloyd’s and Hair Studio,” said a spokesperson.

“Thank-you to all volunteers who gave up their time to help raise funds by making cakes, helped set up/tidy away and those who helped us sell.

“The total amount raised was £861 which will be donated to local charities that will be confirmed at the September Full Council meeting.”

The council confirmed that it will repeat the sale next year over August Bank Holiday and will accept donations any time for books, DVDs and CDs.
