Wind farm loads set to hit Welshpool earlier

14/09/2021 @ 09:15

Motorists are being warned that the delays caused by abnormal wind farm loads travelling through the area will happen earlier in the day until the end of the month.

Disruptions have been caused over the past fortnight as enormous convoys (pictured) transport parts south to the Hendy Wind Farm, near Llandrindod Wells.

In an update last night, Dyfed-Powys Police said that the loads are expected to travel through the Welshpool area from around 10.30am.

It is not clear which days the loads will travel, but police advice motorists to follow the Powys Roads Policing Unit for the latest news on Twitter.

Sergeant Matthew Thomas said: “We thank the public for their continued patience and understanding. Please see daily updates on the @powysrpu Twitter page.”

Rough times for each leg of the journey, which are subject to multiple factors that could delay or change them, are:

Leave Wrexham A483 at 0930 – 0945

Arrive at Welshpool at 1030 - 1045

Arrive at Newtown at 1100 - 1145

Arrive at Rhayader A470 at 1300 - 1345

Arrive at Llandrindod Wells at 1345 - 1415

Arrive at site A44 at 1430  – 1515
