Big Christmas event saved!

01/12/2021 @ 07:30

More than two dozen volunteers stepped forward last night to save an event that promises to be one of the most spectacular local attractions this Christmas.

A desperate appeal was made last night for volunteers to support the Charity Illuminated Christmas Tractor Run which will start and finish in Welshpool on Sunday, December 12.

Organiser, Jenny Clarke, pleaded: “We are still in desperate need of volunteer marshalls and helpers for the event. If we don’t get any helpers, then I’m sorry to say we can’t allow the event to go ahead.”

The response was immediate and this morning a rejuvenated Jenny said: “Last night’s appeal has come up trumps and we now have just over 25 confirmed volunteers!

“It means so much that the community has stepped up to help! The event wouldn’t be able to go ahead without everyone’s support, so a huge thank you!

“Still lots of work going on behind the scenes and we are finalising all the things for the event.

Twelve days to go!”

Eighty tractors will leave the Livestock Market at around 5pm for a 30-mile route through villages including Guilsfield, Arddleen, Four Crosses, Llandrinio, Trewern and Buttington before returning to the Market. Spectators are invited to the Livestock Market from 4pm.

The event will raise money for the The DPJ Foundation, a charity that provides vital mental health support to the local agricultural sector.
