Powys County Council said it has no plans to close local schools early despite the growing threat of Covid-19 ruining Christmas.
Some local councils in Wales have already called time on the Christmas term and switched to home learning, but Powys will not be following suit.
“There are no plans to close Powys schools early and their last day of term will be Wednesday, December 22. There are also no plans to move all learners to online learning for the last few days of the term,” a spokesman told us.
Last year Powys made a u-turn on its announcement that they would’t close the schools early by switching children to online learning a week before the end of term following a Wales-wide directive.
However, it created huge childcare issues and many parents will be hoping that they won’t be changing their mind again this week.
