The Raven Inn has made the difficult decision to close its doors until Christmas Eve after a number of staff members were ‘pinged’ following a Covid-19 case in the popular pub.
The pub and restaurant said that it made the move quickly in the interests of staff safety and denied that their hand had been forced by Environmental Health Officers (EHO).
“Due to circumstances beyond our control we have had to close The Raven Inn and will be back open and back to normal on Christmas Eve,” the business announced last night.
“To be clear, we have not ‘been shut down’ and this is not EHO related. There has been a case of Covid in the pub, many of our staff have been ‘pinged’ so we have taken the difficult decision to close for 10 days to allow for a deep clean and our staff to self isolate. We hope this clears up any misconceptions.”
The closure will prove costly for the business with the next 10 days being some of the most profitable of the year, so its decision to put staff and customer safety first was widely praised last night on social media.
In the meantime, those with bookings are encouraged to contact the ‘sister’ pub - The Lowfield Inn - on 01743 891313 to make alternative plans. There are also a number of other excellent places still available for food and bookings across the Welshpool area.
