Welshpool Town Council has identified that huge funding will be required to update the Town Hall.
Town Mayor Councillor Alison Davies has told the council that costs could be as much as £3.2million and the council plans to appoint a professional fund raiser.
The council last night approved a recommendation from the Services & Property Committee to place £20,000 in budgets to fund the appointment.
Councillors heard that a funding brief had been provided by Hughes Architects and that the appointment was needed to identify all possible funding opportunities that would be available.
