School kids help the homeless

Homeless people have been given a helping hand by children from Montgomery Primary School.

The After School Club (ASC) raised funds through a quiz hosted by the Dragon Hotel and after discussing what to do with the money, they decided to spend half on sleeping bags for the homeless with the rest on new equipment for sports, games and activities at the school.

Keeping it local, the vital equipment will be handed to the Shrewsbury Ark who work with the homeless in the town.

One of the ASC supervisors, Caryl Davies, said: “It is so pleasing to be part of such a caring community. Well done children, I am really proud of you.”

Headteacher Anna Griggs added: “What a thoughtful idea! Thank you to the Dragon Hotel Montgomery for hosting our quiz too.”
