The town has united in anger following the spate of awful vandalism carried out at the Maesydre playing fields at the weekend, and now the local police are appealing for information to catch the culprits.
Despite rumours to the contrary, no arrests have been made following the weekend carnage but Welshpool Mayor, Cllr Alison Davies, said that the incident had been captured on CCTV.
Welshpool Police issued the following statement this morning in a bid to close in on the troublesome gang that is responsible.
“On Saturday evening, March 5, a shed on the Maesydre Sports field was broken into and a tractor taken out onto the pitch and damaged. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing. No arrests made to date.
“Anyone with information that could help officers with their investigation is asked to report it to Dyfed-Powys Police, either online at: https://bit.ly/DPPContactOnline, by emailing 101@dyfed-powys.police.uk, or by calling 101.
“If you are deaf, hard of hearing, or speech impaired text the non-emergency number on 07811 311 908. Quote reference: DP-20220305-303.
“Alternatively, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555111, or visiting crimestoppers-uk.org.”
