More yellow lines to restrict street parking in Llanfair

Town centre parking is set to become more restricted in Llanfair Caereinion, after the town council backed Powys County Council proposals to increase yellow lines.

Concerns over safety have been presented by the police with the regional authority proposing widespread restrictions, which were largely backed by town planners.

The council agreed to support increased yellow line parking restrictions at Parsons Bank, Mount Road (near the SPAR), and the High Street (from the Old Courthouse to the pedestrian entrance to Deri Woods).

But they have requested clarification before taking a view on parking restrictions in two other parts of the High Street.

“We were asked to consider proposals by Powys County Council to alter the parking restrictions in the town centre of Llanfair Caereinion,” said a council spokesperson.

“The Council did consider objections to the High Street proposals, but overall felt for safety reasons that they should support the police view that such restrictions were necessary.”

It was also pointed out that people will still be able to unload and load goods from homes located where the new restrictions are in place.
