Recycle-on-the-go bins start to appear

06/07/2022 @ 07:44

New litter bins are appearing in towns around Powys designed to make recycling easier while people are out and about.

The new recycle-on-the-go bins are split into two with one side for general rubbish and the other for recycling.

The bins are being rolled out across the county to make it easier for people to recycle in public areas. The bins have been paid for with funding from Caru Cymru initiative, an all-Wales movement led by Keep Wales Tidy and local authorities to inspire people to care for the environment and eradicate litter.

Councillor Jackie Charlton, cabinet member for a greener Powys, says the bins are a way to build on the good work being done by many in Powys to recycle.

She said: “Powys people have proven to be great recyclers. It is second nature for many of us to recycle as much of our waste as possible, which is why it is so important for us to be able to recycle while we are on the go and not just at home.

“These new dual-purpose bins are ideal at ensuring our beautiful Powys communities stay litter free as well as providing an opportunity for us to recycle our drinks containers while we are out and about.”
