Potters closes Raven Street operation

After nearly 40 years serving the town as a petrol station, Potters has confirmed that it has closed down its garage on Raven Street.

Managing Director of Potter Group, James Potter, said last night that it was a decision made with “heartfelt regret” but was pleased to confirm that a current tenant at the site was taking on the whole premises.

“Having been proud to serve the town for nearly four decades, it is with heartfelt regret that Potter Group has closed the Welshpool Raven Street Garage,” said Mr Potter.

“A lease with existing tenant, William Nunns Van & Car Sales, to occupy the whole of the site has been agreed and we are delighted that the premises will support the development of another local business.”

This closure is the latest in a lengthening list of businesses pulling out of the town centre area, but the town council is developing a fresh plan to address the situation and stem the tide of closures.
